After signing for the Lilywhites in 2016 for £30 Million from Newcastle United, Moussa Sissoko failed to impress for Spurs.

The 29 year went through a disappointing season two seasons with the club, being labelled a “flop” by fans and failing to consistently start for the now Champions League regulars.

Astoundingly however, the French midfielder has had a blossom of form this season, not only in the Premier League, but in the Champions League as well.

His standout performance so far this season was against Inter Milan, in Tottenham’s crucial 1-0 win against the Italian giants. Sissoko not only provided the pre-assist to Christian Eriksen’s match-winning goal, but was energetic and powerful in midfield. He set about winning close tackles and constantly bursting up the field with the ball, charging at the opposition.

Sissoko was recently nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for November, which as astonishing as this may be to fans considering his expectations this season, has been a pleasant surprise for anyone involved with the in-form club.

Sissoko was rumoured to be on his way out of Tottenham, but after this flurry of brilliance from, the 6’2 powerhouse will look to establish himself as a first team regular, and has received bounties of praise from manager Mauricio Pochettino recently to back that up.

Given Tottenham’s failure to sign any new players in the summer transfer window, there were always set to be concerns about their depth this season. Sissoko’s emergence has helped to give the side more options across the park, particularly in the months of December and January where the club is set to play multiple games in a variety of competitions.

With Tottenham’s season negatively influenced by the continued failure to complete White Hart Lane – and their Wembley woes continuing earlier in the year – Sissoko’s emergence is a positive development for the club.
