Hopman Cup live stream: How to watch the Australian summer of tennis online or on TV, start times, dates, teams, venue, key information

By The Roar / Editor

The 2019 tennis season will get underway with a bang in Perth as the Hopman Cup launches the Australian summer of tennis. This is The Roar’s guide to live streaming the tournament online or watching it on TV.

The tournament is scheduled to get underway on Saturday, December 28 and run until Saturday, January 5 with all matches set to be played at the Perth Arena in Western Australia.

Unlike regular tennis tournaments, this is played in teams and doesn’t feature a knockout element, making it perfect preparation for the Australian Open in a fortnight.

Eight teams of two (one man, one woman) are split into two groups and compete in a round-robin stage featuring men’s singles, women’s singles and a mixed doubles match, meaning every player will get at least three days of tennis regardless of results.

The final is then played between the two group winners on the final day.

How to watch the tournament on TV

Under a new TV deal with Tennis Australia, the Hopman Cup will be screened on Channel 9 this year.

While it’s unclear exactly which of their stations the tournament will be shown on, it’s likely to be either 9Gem or 9Go, with each match throughout the Hopman Cup set to be live in some capacity.

How to stream the tournament online

Meanwhile, the tournament will also be available to watch online through the Channel 9 streaming application, known as 9Now.

We do not get 9 Gem, the only station we do not get, and were really disappointed we could not view the Hopman Cup

Hi I was watching the Hopman Cup on channel 9 & tried to go to Gem but we've recently changed to satellite with Foxtel as we had to- & Gem is not broadcast as Channel 9 didn't want to pay for the connection to satellite. I am not happy as Australia is playing tonight -so how do I watch ?

I'll be at a few of these matches. It's always been my dream to yell out "BORING" in the middle of a game. Just kidding. I'm looking forward to it. Can't wait for the bigone though.

Hi there, All matches will be live across the Nine Network. It's just not known which channel they will be on each day. We suggest checking your local guide.

I noticed that ' it’s unclear exactly which of their stations the tournament will be shown on, it’s likely to be either 9Gem or 9Go, with each match throughout the Hopman Cup set to be live in some capacity.' What is Live in some capacity mean - Are all matches shown, Male/ female and doubles? Morning matches and Night Matches? Only Federer and serene matches? Only Australian Matches? Could you give more detail please Regards Vicki
