UFC women’s bantamweight Amanda Nunes has made MMA history by becoming the first woman in UFC history to become a dual champion after his 51-second annihilation of UFC Featherweight champ Cris Cyborg.
Nunes took the fight to Cyborg straight away, landing a jab and throwing Cyborg completely off her fight plan.
After a couple of more shots, Cyborg started throwing wild punches that Nunes easily dodged and knocked Cyborg to the floor.
Cyborg immediately bounced back up to her feet but after another crushing punch to the side of her head, Cyborg crashed to the ground and the bout was called off.
Nunes now stands on top of the UFC world adding the featherweight title to her Bantamweight and has cemented her place as the best women’s fighter in the world by knocking off the woman who was thought to be unbeatable. Now, in my opinion, she has earned the right to call herself ‘the baddest woman on the planet.’
Obviously, the talk of a rematch will not be far off. Given her wins over the likes of the top women in the UFC like Cyborg, Ronda Rousey, and Holly Holmes it remains to be seen who will get a crack at the now dual champ.
Jon Jones regained his Light-heavyweight title after a three-round stoppage of Alexander Gustafsson and looks like another match with heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier may be on the cards in 2019.
The Australian Megan Anderson also picked up a win in her bout by TKO after her leg-kick accidentally caught Cat Zingano in the eye forcing the Aussie’s opponent to quit the bout via an injury.
Again, Nunes finished the year with an epic victory and can ring in the new year as a historical figure, a dual women’s champion and one of the UFC’s best fighters.
