After a gruelling season and thrilling playoff series, the biggest US sporting event is here. Super Bowl 53, between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams will take place on Monday, February 4 at 10:30am (AEDT).

With the Super Bowl usually being the most-watched television event every year in the USA, it’s no surprise the match has immense popularity in Australia too.

Whether you’re a hardcore American football fan, a casual watcher, or just someone who gets caught up in the halftime show, Super Bowl ‘Sunday’ (Monday our time) is sure to dominate office discussion before and after the game.

How can you watch the pinnacle of American sports in Australia? We’ve got you covered with this handy live streaming guide.

Who’s playing?
Surprise, surprise, the New England Patriots.

The ultra-consistent Pats have been a model of unity, precision and perfection since the turn of the millennium, and it all boils down to two names; Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

The legendary quarterback and coaching duo have missed the playoffs just three times since 2000, racking up a whopping 17 division titles, nine Super Bowl appearances (including this one) and five championships in the process.

Standing in their way are the plucky young Los Angeles Rams. Since moving back to California from St Louis in 2016, they’ve been unafraid to make daring moves and break the mold in their quest to put years of mediocrity behind them.

Their head coach, Sean McVay, is just 33 years old. Their quarterback, Jared Goff, is a 24-year-old number one draft pick.

It will very much be a match between the undisputed champion and the young, hungry contender when the two teams clash on Monday (our time).

If you’re after a fun bit of trivia, the St Louis Rams were the team Brady and Belichick defeated in 2001 for their first Super Bowl victory.
