The Fed Cup is back for 2019, with Australia drawn for a trip to the United States of America for the first time in four years. This is The Roar’s guide to streaming all five match of the tie live online, and watching them on TV.
The tie is scheduled to be played at the US Cellular Arena in Asheville, North Carolina, on Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10.
With the time difference in Australia, that will make the dates for Australian audiences Sunday, February 10 and Monday, February 11, with play set to commence at 5am (AEDT) each day.
On Day 1, play would be expected to conclude at around 8:30am (AEDT), and on Day 2, should all three matches needed to be played, at around 10:30am (AEDT).
Following the regular format of a Fed Cup tie, there will be two singles matches played on Saturday, then reverse singles on Sunday, before doubles would be used as a decider if needed.
Australia have fought their way back into the world group, which is only contested by the top eight teams in the world, after defeating the Netherlands in a promotion-relegation tie last year, while the USA made the final last year and so didn’t need to play in that part of the season.
The winner of this tie will go on to play either Germany or Belarus.
The tie will be televised to Australian audiences exclusively by the Nine Network. Their coverage will start at 5am (AEDT) each day of play and be available through 9Gem.
9Gem can be found on Channel 92, or, if you’re watching through a Foxtel service, Channel 192.
If you would prefer to live stream the tie online while you’re sitting on that boring train commute to work, you’ll be able to do that as well through Nine’s online streaming service.
This is known as 9Now and allows you to stream all of Nine’s channels for free, however, you will need to sign up with a valid email and password.
