Perth Scorchers paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile left the field following the final over of his spell against the Adelaide Strikers in a worrying series of events.

Coulter-Nile appeared to be struggling after bowling the fifth ball of the 18th over of the Strikers’ chase of 175 at Adelaide Oval.

However after deciding to push on through, Coulter-Nile called for assistance immediately after delivering his last ball, with the 31-year-old looking woozy and appearing to stumble near the non-striker’s end.

“It’s unusal to go down like that,” Channel Seven commentator and former Australian paceman Dirk Nannes said, with his colleague Alister Nicholson describing the scenes as “alarming”.

After a brief delay as he received medical attention, Coulter-Nile was able to walk off the field alongside Scorchers trainers.

At the time of publishing there has been no further update regarding the incident.

Coulter-Nile had recently won a recall to the Australian ODI setup, having been named in the squad for the upcoming tour of India later this month.
