Castleford have announced the signing of Melbourne Storm centre Cheyse Blair on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Cheyse Blair has been granted a release by Melbourne Storm to take up contract with Super League side Castleford.
The former Sydney Roosters, Parramatta and Manly centre will join up with the Yorkshire side to take up a three-year contract as soon as his UK visa is rubber stamped.
The 27-year-old joined Melbourne in 2016 and made 88 NRL appearances in the NRL, scoring 33 tries.
Castleford director of rugby Jon Wells said: “Cheyse’s signature is a huge statement of intent for the Tigers going forward.
“He is proven at the highest level in the NRL and brings that experience and competitive edge to a progressive and motivated team.”
Blair, who was under contract to the Storm until the end of 2020, will make the move to Super League when he receives his visa.
“I am really excited and pumped to be joining the club,” he said.
“I am looking forward to getting over there, meeting everyone and ripping in. I know Castleford have the best rugby league community and fans and I can’t wait to hear their roar.”
Castleford coach Daryl Powell said: “Cheyse is an experienced outside back from probably the best club in Australia.
“As such, we know we are getting a quality performer with bags of experience and ability.
“I’m looking forward to welcoming him and his family to the Tigers and I am confident he will add to our quality both on and off the field.”
