Brendon Bolton needs to stop with ‘the wins will come’ – they won’t with him as Carlton coach.

On Sunday, the Blues blew an 18-point lead to lose to the Suns by two points and are now the only team that hasn’t won a game in 2019.

Bolton is now 15 wins and 55 losses as coach – grounds to be sacked, as is the fact Carlton are three from their last 36 games.

The honourable thing for Bolton to do is resign and let John Barker coach the rest of the season out.

In 2020, Carlton need to target Paul Roos and Blake Caracella to bring them back from the abyss.

Roos saved Melbourne from oblivion, reinvigorating them over a few years before handing the reins to Simon Goodwin, and Dees supporters are forever indebted to Roos for what he did for the club.

Richmond assistant coach Blake Caracella was a focal point behind the Tigers’ 2017 flag success, and is close friends with Cain Liddle. Caracella is a coach in waiting, and would benefit working under Liddle and Roos to make Carlton competitive again.

The Blues are a good three years behind the rest of the competition, including the Gold Coast, and if we are being realistic they will not win a single game in 2019.

Sports opinion delivered daily

Carlton are in a worse state than 2018, which they don’t want to admit – but they can’t score over 100 points, keep a lead, or score points in that instance.

Brendan Bolton, your time is up. It’s time to do the right thing and begin life outside of the AFL.
