The second Good Friday game between the West Coast Eagles and Port Adelaide will feature the evergreen Eagles captain Shannon Hurn.

Hurn will equal the game playing record of the brilliant Peter Matera who – through the 1990s and early 2000s – electrified supporters with performances that included the 1992 Norm Smith Medal, five All Australian awards, a runner-up in the Brownlow Medal and a club best and fairest in 1997 across a 217-game career.

It’s a big game also for Mark Hutchings, playing his 100th match for the Eagles. Hutchings becomes the 68th Eagle to make the milestone.

Both teams welcome a new top 30 game-player. For the Eagles, Jack Darling matches Chris Waterman and for the Power, Ollie Wines equals Matthew Bishop.

In the Greater Western Sydney vs Fremantle game, Jeremy Cameron will further imprint his already dominant history at the club by joining ex-team-mate Dylan Shiel as the second greatest game-player for the Giants.

Nick Haynes will draw level with Devon Smith, another Essendon recruit, in 11th place.

For Fremantle, David Mundy will move to within one match of the 300-game milestone, whilst Michael Walters will draw level with Matthew Carr.

Carr joined the Dockers after two years and 28 games at the Saints and retired during the 2008 season.

Player milestones in the Melbourne vs St Kilda game are few and far between, but Jack Newnes will pass two well known Saints in Jim Ross and Bruce Duperouzel.

Duperouzel was a club captain and leading goal scorer in 1974. Recruited from Western Australian club Claremont, he was also a first class cricketer for WA.

Jim Ross also topped the Saints’ goal-kicking charts in 1954 and won three best and fairest awards before taking up a coaching role in Tasmania at the age of 26.

The Richmond vs Sydney game features two seriously under-performing teams that sit outside the eight.

For Sydney, Keiren Jack will achieve the significant milestone of 250 games whilst Josh Kennedy will join Dennis Carroll.

At Richmond, Nick Vlastuin will join Bert Edwards in 97th position on the Tigers’ top 100 game players, therefore pushing Maurie Sheehan and legendary coach Michael Malthouse down to equal 99th position.

Can Carlton win this week? This question will be asked by many, and injuries to two of the Bulldogs’ consistent performers – ex-Hawks Taylor Duryea and Matthew Suckling – will increase the likelihood of the Blues breaking their duck.

The main incentive for the Blues, however, should be the milestone achieved by Kade Simpson, who will equal Carlton’s fourth all-time game player at the club, Stephen Silvangi.

Ed Curnow will also move up the Blues’ list, joining Gary Crane in 79th position.

Mitch Wallis will improve his standing at the Bulldogs by moving up the list to join Alan Stoneham and Mick Egan in 82nd position, and Jack Macrae will equal Ross Abbey.

Alphabetically, the ex-Strathmore player Abbey appears third on the list of over 12,000 players who have played VFL/AFL football since 1897.
