LISTEN: The good, the bad and the ugly from Round 5 of the AFL

By The Roar / Editor

The collective groan of AFL tipsters has grown from a rumble to a roar after yet another round of unpredictable moments and results.

As Roar Weekend Editor Josh Elliott pointed out in his weekly talking points, the tumultuous start to the 2019 season is well demonstrated by the ladder heading into Round 6: 11 teams have won at least three games, every team has won at least once and all but two have been defeated twice or more.

Round 5 was a massive week of footy with Fremantle and Port Adelaide taking massive scalps against Greater Western Sydney and West Coast respectively, Carlton scoring 100 points or more for the first time in 1051 days, St Kilda securing second spot on the ladder and Eddie Betts continuing to be Eddie Betts.

We spoke with Roar AFL Expert Cam Rose on the Game of Codes podcast to debate the biggest surprises of the round, from the best wins to the worst losses.

Listen to the discussion in the player below as we unpack Carlton’s conquering of a struggling Bulldogs outfit, Port Adelaide’s emphatic victory over the reigning premiers and other somewhat unexpected talking points from the weekend.
