Racing this Saturday comes to us from Caulfield where the VOBIS races and the two year old Showdown race are the highlights of the day.

As per usual I will be running you through my thoughts of the legs of the quaddie, let’s get stuck into it!

First Leg – Ladbrokes Showdown 1200m
2 Prince Of Sussex looked good at his two trials to date but was run over late in his debut, won well last start with a good turn of foot at Bendigo.

4 Stand To Attention just had no luck at Bendigo but ran home well he then came here to Caulfield and was beaten by a potential star in Super Seth who runs at Flemington Anzac Day and should be winning that race, has claims here.

5 Groot one for you Guardians and Avengers fans, hit the line hard off a wide run in the Blue Diamond Prelude, then was just no match for Prince Of Sussex at Bendigo, can run a nice race here and I Am Groot!

8 Sartorial Splendor was green on debut but was just far too good for them at Terang, was backed if unbeatable that day and he proved that winning by 2.5 lengths and the Sadler stable have a high opinion of this guy.

11 Flostar sat on speed on her debut here at Caulfield and gave a good kick but was nailed right on the line, gets the winkers first time and the tongue tie on for the first time, could go well second up here.

Suggestions: 2-4-5-8-11

Second Leg – Hygain VOBIS Gold Heath 2000m
1 Mahamedeis was pretty plain first up but his late splits were pretty good was even better second up in the Golden Mile at Bendigo behind Haripour.

He was fit third up and won pretty well here at Caulfield, Plein Ciel was third in that race and he franked that form by winning last week! The Step up to 2000 metres fourth up is ideal!

8 Mr Quickie has been very good winning twice already this preparation and just building nicely toward the South Australian Derby, had a big weight last start and was just nailed here at Caulfield by a smart three year old in Grinzinger Star who then came out and won again.

Suggestions: 1-8

Third Leg – IRT VOBIS Gold Mile 1600m
Going with the one runner here, he is just such a quality and consistent horse. 1 Widgee Turf, had the fastest 200-metre split of the Group 1 Doncaster last start in Sydney and a fast win prior to that at Flemington.

Well suited by the weight scale here and will be mighty hard to beat!

Last Leg – VOBIS Gold Sprint 1200m
1 Ashlor gets the winkers off first time and gets the blinkers back on, normally a very consistent horse so it was strange for him to put in a poor run last start very unlike him, showed great fight to beat Widgee Turf prior to that, good record at 1200 metres.

3 Iconoclasm resuming here, doesn’t have the greatest first up record but is a quality horse who has been Group 1 competitive in the past look for him to run a nice race.

9 Fuhryk kicked away first up and was just nailed late, has since run poorly but was slow out of the gates that day. Sound splits last start and could bob up in a race like this.

10 Miss Leonidas was a bit slow away first up and didn’t handle the tight track at Mornington but still finished off very strongly she then won well here at Caulfield where she led and won in fast time beating a few smart ones in I Am Someone and Eduardo, can win again!

11 Miss Vixen was slow out at Sandown two starts back but was just far too good for them, finished off strongly here last start behind Grey Shadow and is racing very well.

Suggestions: 1-3-9-10-11
