Australian allrounder Shane Watson has announced he will retire from the Big Bash League.

The Big Bash League has lost one of its biggest stars following Shane Watson’s decision to retire from the Twenty20 competition.

Sydney Thunder captain Watson, who is taking part in the current Indian Premier League season and recently scored 96 for Chennai, has confirmed he won’t return for a fifth BBL campaign with the Thunder.

The 37-year-old allrounder isn’t retiring altogether and will continue to play in other T20 tournaments around the world.
