Coach Markus Babble is 100 per cent sure Western Sydney will have a stronger side for the next A-League season after missing finals for a second straight year.

Western Sydney coach Markus Babbel wants to bring more quality Australians to his club and is 100 per cent certain the Wanderers will field a stronger side next season after another disappointing A-League campaign.

For the first time in their seven-year history the club has missed out on the finals in successive seasons, finishing eighth in 2018-19.
That’s one place lower than last season when it logged two more wins and nine more points and the second worst finish in their history behind the ninth place in 2014-15.

The Wanderers will overhaul their roster, with German Babbel looking for more quality and experience for his second season in charge.
Babbel already has a list of potential recruits in mind.

“Now many players have two frustrating years behind them and definitely will not follow a third one,” Babbel said after the Wanderers lost 1-0 at home to Melbourne Victory in their final game of the season on Saturday.

“Next season we will have a strong side, and we have to come back in the playoffs, this is what the club expect and where we want to go.
“We will work to get good players in this club and I’m 100 per cent that we will have a stronger side next season.

“This is a lot of work of course because it’s not easy to get players if you finish eighth, but we are working hard and if we get these players I have in my head, then I think we have a strong side.”

While most of the imports are not expected to return, Babbel stressed it was harder to find quality home grown products.

Shoring up the defence is a priority after the Wanderers conceded 54 goals, the most they’ve ever allowed in a season.

“We conceded definitely too may goals, so we have to do something there,” Babbel said.

“We are looking for good players, it’s not the biggest problem to get foreigners.

“It’s more the problem to get the good Australians, because the good ones most of them play in Europe.

“Here most of them if they are good, they play for the big clubs, so we have to identify the strong fellows from Australia, to bring them to us and this is a challenge.”

Babbel said he was looking forward to seeing his old Liverpool teammate Robbie Fowler, who was last week appointed the new Brisbane Roar coach.
