A brand-new episode of the Game of Codes podcast is up and we’re tackling the biggest talking points in the lead-up to a packed weekend of sport.

With Roar Editor Daniel Jeffrey out of action, I joined host Matt Petherick to pick apart the week ahead.

First on the agenda is the 2019 A-League finals, which kick off this Friday at 7:50pm when Melbourne Victory host Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park in the first elimination final between third and sixth. Fourth and fifth will do battle when Adelaide United host Melbourne City at 7:00pm on Sunday.

Both games are shaping up to be tight contests, so we ask football expert Mike Tuckerman to help us predict who heads home and who stays alive for another week.

Then, we talk NRL and discuss the biggest match of the round with league expert Mary Konstantopoulos: Brisbane versus South Sydney. The game sees coaches Anthony Seibold and Wayne Bennett face off for the first time since swapping roles at the end of the 2018 season – is it personal, or is it just another round of footy? We also tackle Manly’s injury woes and whether they can keep proving critics wrong without Daly Cherry-Evans or Tom Trbojevic.

Last but not least, AFL expert Cam Rose joins us to pick apart the tough week of tipping that is Round 7 and discuss whether Giants star Jeremy Cameron – currently leading the Coleman Medal race with 24 majors – can kick the first ten-goal season since Buddy Franklin achieved the feat in 2008.

As always, be sure to give Game of Codes a listen in the player above, subscribe wherever you get your podcasts (like iHeartRadio or Apple Podcasts), and remember to leave us a review.
