Getting through May as a football fan in Australia is like being a kid in a candy store.

Between the A-League finals, the pointy end of the UEFA Champions League and the conclusion of every major European domestic competition, there’s no shortage of local and international sport to digest.

And if ever you needed a reminder as to why you love the beautiful game of football, the past week has delivered in spades. From the first week of the A-League finals to the absurd second-leg Champions League upsets pulled off by Liverpool and Tottenham, the world game is as entertaining as ever.

On today’s episode of the Game of Codes podcast, we asked Roar Expert Matthew Galea how this week measures up to football’s greatest moments and what we’ll see in each competition over the weekend.

Listen to the debate:

Perth Glory will face Adelaide United tonight for a spot in the A-League grand final, while Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory will battle it out on Sunday.

As is tradition, the final matches of the English Premier League will all be played concurrently at 12:00am AEST on Monday. A win to Manchester City over Brighton will secure the title, while a draw or a loss opens the door for Liverpool to snatch glory with a victory over Wolves.
