South Sydney Rabbitohs half and New South Wales Blues origin front-runner Adam Reynolds has been cleared of a leg fracture and is likely to be fit for Game 1 in ten days, in what is finally a stroke of good news for the Blues.

Reynolds, who was taken from the field at the back-end of the Rabbitohs Round 11 victory over the Tigers on Saturday night was sent for scans on Sunday morning, and New South Wales coach Brad Fittler announced on Channel 9’s wide world of sports that he had been cleared of a fracture.

According to respected NRL injury analyst NRLPhysio on Twitter, Reynolds is likely to have only suffered a contusion, and the chance of him not being right for Game 1 next Wednesday against the Maroons is minimal

While the selection of Reynolds is hardly a certainty, his form at the Rabbitohs has been outstanding, and with a number of other key players going down injured this weekend, it’s looking like more and more of a possibility.

Luke Keary, who was widely thought to have his mortgage on a halves jumper sewn up has been ruled out after suffering yet another concussion against the Knights on Friday night, while Mitchell Pearce was also brought undone by a groin strain.

With incumbents Nathan Cleary and James Maloney struggling to lift the Penrith Panthers from the bottom of the table, it’s opened the door for Reynolds and Rabbitohs halves partner Cody Walker to be possible front-runners for the spots when the Blues team is read out this week.
