State of Origin 2019 is just around the corner, and right now the question on every fan’s lips is: who is going to make the teams?

Well… W can’t tell you that for sure. Not just yet. But we can have a crack. And, as we so often do, we thought the best way was to ask you.

Earlier this week we took your votes to pick 2019’s Origin 1 team for the Queensland Maroons, and today – ahead of an expected Monday announcement – we’re here to show off the results.

Have a look, and let us know what you think in the comments. Could this team beat the Blues?

Kalyn Ponga to anchor the team at full back is clearly a deadset certainly and was virtually a unanimous decision by the voters, with 99 per cent picking the Newcastle Knights superstar to wear the No.1.

Corey Oates and Dane Gagai were both widely popular picks as the Maroons’ wingers, while Will Chambers and Michael Morgan stood head and shoulders above the other contenders in the centres.

Similarly, Cameron Munster appears the obvious choice at five-eighth and attracted 92 per cent of the vote, with no other players making a serious move for the role. Daly Cherry-Evans enjoyed 89 per cent of the vote to wear the No.7.

The forwards proved to be a more difficult decision for the voters with a number of positions having several strong candidates.

Ben Hunt won the No.9 ahead of Jake Granville (24 per cent) and Reed Mahoney (10), with Hunt himself enjoyed just over half of the votes.

Josh Papalii and Matt Scott secured selection as the Maroons’ props with Jarrod Wallace offering the sternest opposition.

However, clearly the biggest decision for the fans to make was at lock. Jai Arrow with 48 per cent of the vote got the nod, but Josh McGuire with 41 per cent nearly pipped him.

Matt Gillett and Felise Kaufusi were easy choices to fill out the back row, while David Fifita, Joe Ofahenguae, Coen Hess and Tim Glasby make up the bench.
