The opening match of the 2019 Cricket World Cup will see England take on South Africa at The Oval in London. This is The Roar’s complete guide to the match.

The hosts of the tournament will take on a team who have never won one to kick-off the 2019 version of cricket’s showpiece, with the first ball scheduled to be bowled at 7:30pm (AEST) on Thursday, May 30.

England enters the tournament as the almost undisputed favourite, with only India alongside them according to a majority of punters, while South Africa will be underdone from very little cricket in the lead-up, but are a side still to be feared with plenty of talent and experience littered in their side.
