Move over 50 Cent, we might have a new contender for the worst opening pitch of all time.
A Chicago White Sox employee of the month was given the honour of the ceremonial first pitch, an age-old ritual in baseball where a guest or celebrity throws a pitch to mark the start of the game. On this occasion, it didn’t quite go to plan.
Before the aforementioned White Sox took to the field against the Kansas City Royals, the (un)lucky lady lined up her pitch on the mound.
While she didn’t even get close to hitting the mark, she did hit a photographer!
A cameraman who was standing just to the left of the mound ready to take the token action shot found himself an unwilling participant of the action as the stray throw came flying right at him.
Not able to get out of the way in time, his camera took the brunt of the impact in one of the most unexpectedly hilarious first pitches in recent memory.
Thankfully both the photographer and his camera avoided damage as the Sox went on to beat the Royals 4-3.
