This is beyond ridiculous for a coach, and if they wanted change it should’ve happened at the end of the 2018 season – but we got our wish and Bolton was told this morning by CEO Cain Liddle that the Bolton experiment had ran it’s course. How can you get the trust of your playing group back?
You’ve sacked a man who was a mentor and a close mate to many of those who were drafted, and if there is no response from this sacking – get ready to see what Brisbane and Gold Coast faced this decade, a mass exodus.
It is time for Carlton to start cleaning out the entire coaching staff, top to bottom. Time for Carlton to admit they are in bad state at coaching and at board level.
It is time for Carlton to clean out the board, and that includes the football director Chris Judd, this include’s president Mark LoGiudice, this includes list manager Stephen Silvagni. If you want the best interest in the football club, these three figureheads shouldn’t be at the club beyond 2019.
David Teague has the most difficult position in football, imagine how John Barker felt in 2015 – Barker didn’t want it the second time around, because he knew what kind of affect it would have on him mentally again. Good luck David Teague, you are going to need it.
Carlton now can’t have another 2-20 season, or even worse a 1-21 season (GWS had it in 2013). If the Blues fail to win more than five games by Round 23, expect the exodus to come from players level, Pat Cripps will go at the end of his contract, Jacob Weitering will request a trade and Charlie Curnow might get to the Gold Coast – they’ll believe there is no light at the end of the tunnel of this football club. As a supporter, I believe right now there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
For 17 years, I’ve seen the club peril and go through five coaches and spend majority of the time in the bottom half of the ladder, they are categorically been the worst team of the 21st century. Fitzroy of 1995 and 96 would annihilate the Carlton of 2018-19 easily in a game right now.
They might’ve sacked Bolton as the first step, but there is so much dead weight at the club that needs to be let go as well – and the president, footballing director and list manager will be on notice as the next casualties.

I've always thought that Dockers side of 2001 coached by Damian Drum/Ben Allan was the worst team ever (2-20), but the current (or next year's) Carlton side could be worse. What's interesting to note is that two years after finishing bottom in 2001 the Dockers were in the finals, whereas when Carlton finished bottom in 2002 and blew the salary cap they've virtually been in limbo ever since.

Good article.Finally someone looking at Carlton's woe s over a long period.IMO Carlton's predicament is holding the game back and the Afl should get involved at board level to help remedy it.What is amazing is the club has 60 thousand members and there on the bottom imagine the support if they ever get back up top.
