A truly frightening run of superb ODI form had Cricket World Cup hosts England enter this year’s tournament as very warm favourites – but have they already squandered that favouritism away?

After a blistering start to the tournament that saw them breeze past South Africa, England’s World Cup run came to a grinding halt after a stunning upset loss to Pakistan.

The incredible bowling that scuttled the Proteas for 207 inside 40 overs was nowhere to be seen, with Pakistan blasting the home bowlers around the park to post an insurmountable total of 348.

Was that loss just an aberration, or have the Shaheens shown the rest of the world how to shut down the Poms?
