UPDATE: Game 2 started at 7:55pm AEST, or 5:55pm local time.

Game 2 of the 2019 State of Origin series between the NSW Blues and Queensland Maroons is scheduled to kick-off at 7:50pm (AEST) tonight. As everyone in rugby league knows, though, there’s fat chance of that happening.

All league fans know the three certainties in life are death, taxes and Origin not starting on time.

It’s been par for the course in recent seasons for the actual to match to start ten, 15, or sometimes even 20 minutes after the scheduled kick off time.

Whether it’s awkward national anthem ceremonies, questionable pre-match entertainment, pyrotechnics making the field too smoky, one team taking an eternity to get out of the dressing room, or a delay to keep the broadcasters happy, something always holds us up.

But, rather than us all sitting around and yelling at our TVs for the game to start, let’s make a game of it!

Hop on the form below and pop the time you think State of Origin Game 2 will actually get underway.

Game 1 this year almost broke the pattern, with a ten-minute shift of the start time to 8:10pm meaning the match kicked off just three minutes late. But Game 2 last year, which was also played on a Sunday night, although not in Perth, began at 7:55pm, a good 15 minutes after the scheduled kick off time.

This year the kick-off has been set for ten minutes later than last, so maybe we’ve been given a more accurate schedule. Or maybe Origin 2 will just start even later.

Tonight, there isn’t a curtain-raiser that could push things back, although Eskimo Joe will be performing some pre-match tunes in the first ever Origin game at Optus Stadium.

Will they keep up the good form in Perth? Or will punctuality fall by the wayside and last year’s tardiness come to the fore again?

The popular picks will be revealed here at 7:10pm (AEST) – 40 minutes prior the scheduled kick-off.
