Too many changes. Brad Fitter got too trigger-happy at the selection table and it cost the Blues the series. At least, that was what was supposed to happen in State of Origin Game 2.

Instead, the wily coach proved he really is one heck of a mad genius after his Frankenstein New South Wales lineup tore Queensland to shreds in a 38-6 demolition at Perth’s Optus Stadium.

Dropping Latrell Mitchell and Josh Morris, putting two non-centres in the centres, failing to adequately replace the injured David Fifita – just one of those ‘mistakes’ was supposed to doom the Blues in Game 2, but they instead return to Sydney as warm favourites ahead of July 10’s decider.

Roar editor and NRL expert Scott Pryde jumped on the Game of Codes podcast to look over all of New South Wales’ successful changes and work out just how Brad Fittler, after all the criticism, pulled one enormous rabbit out of the hat.
