After heading into last night’s State of Origin Game 2 feeling very confident of wrapping up a series victory, the Maroons now head back to the drawing board after suffering one of their worst ever Origin defeats.

The 38-6 shellacking at Perth’s Optus Stadium has seen all the goodwill and confidence generated by Game 1’s upset victory evaporate almost instantly. Now, Queensland enter the all-important Game 3 – in Sydney, no less – as massive underdogs, needing a monumental shift in momentum to take back the shield.

But where exactly did it go wrong for the Maroons?

Did Kevin Walters miss a trick from Game 1? Were they just outfoxed by Brad Fittler, Mad Genius? Was it really a case of poor attitude and discipline?

We were joined by Roar editor and NRL expert Scott Pryde on the Game of Codes podcast to dissect just how everything went pear shaped for the Maroons – and whether they can turn it around in Game 3.
