A-League champions Sydney FC will test themselves against one of Europe’s most glamorous and cashed-up clubs next month when they face French Paris Saint Germain in China.
The July 30 clash in Suzhou will pit the Sky Blues against a PSG squad loaded with international stars.
Their current roster includes superstar Neymar and fellow Brazilian Thiago Silva, France’s 2018 World Cup-winning hero Kylian Mbappe, Uruguayan strike Edison Cavani and former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder Angel Di Maria.
“It will be a fantastic experience for our players to be lining up against such world class opposition and great preparation as we prepare to defend our A-League crown,” said Sydney coach Steve Corica.
The Sky Blues will take a full squad to China, but one with some changes to the roster that won the A-League title.
Among those no longer at the club are retired captain Alex Brosque, marquee Siem de Jong, and centre back Aaron Calver.
Sydney have previously played friendlies against a number of English Premier League clubs including Liverpool and London based sides Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea.
“We are delighted to have been invited to represent Australia to play one of the world’s biggest football clubs and brands in Paris Saint-Germain,” said Sydney FC chairman Scott Barlow.
“This game will receive global attention and once again raise the profile of our club on the world stage.”
