Ethan Lowe successfully converted the try to put the Maroons up 6-2 after 17 minutes of play.
NSW’s James Maloney scored the first points of the match, successfully converting a penalty goal for two points in the fifth minute.
Lowe put Queensland a full six points ahead by scoring a penalty goal in the 28th minute, but the Maroons’ advantage wouldn’t last long.
Paul Vaughan was able to get NSW’s first try of the night on the board just six minutes later in the 34th, and a conversion by Maloney put scores level at 8-all.
That would be the scoreline at the half-time break.
