Just how bad will the Rugby Championship be for Australia?

Australia’s Rugby Championship campaign couldn’t not have possibly started any worse, with an error-riddled performance leading to a 35-17 loss to a Springboks side missing some regular starters.

From the minute Herschel Jantjies crossed early in the piece, the Wallabies were on the back foot as they struggled to contain the South Africans, extending their horror winless run in Johannesburg to a 56th year.

With Argentina pushing the All Blacks all the way in Week 1’s other fixture, the uncompetitive nature of the loss doesn’t bode well for Australia going forward.

We were joined by Roar rugby expert Brett McKay on the Game of Codes podcast to dissect just where it went wrong at Ellis Park and just what hope Michael Cheika’s team has of even winning a game.
