Sally Pearson is reportedly poised to announce her retirement from athletics just a year out from the Tokyo Olympics.

Australia’s track superstar is reportedly expected to call time on her athletics career due to persistent injuries.

The announcement will come on Tuesday with the Tokyo Olympics less than a year away, according to a News Corp report.

The 32-year-old Olympic and two-time world champion in the 100m hurdles suffered a hamstring strain in July which put in question her hopes of competing at the world championships in Doha starting in late September.

The Herald Sun’s Scott Gullan is reporting the stunning news this morning, in what will be a major blow to Australian athletics amid the countdown to Tokyo 2020.
