After two complete capitulations over the weekend, it looks like it’ll be another year of no finals football in South Australia.

It’s a footy-mad state down in SA and, after years of disappointment, both fanbases have grown increasingly dissatisfied with coaches Don Pyke and Ken Hinkley.

Pyke’s only in his fourth season and has a grand final appearance under his belt, but things have never been the same at West Lakes since the Collective Minds camp of 2018.

Hinkey may have unearthed some incredible young talent over the last two years of his tenure, but a finals miss this season would be a fourth in five seasons.

Which coach should be feeling the heat more?

On the Game of Codes podcast, we were joined by Roar AFL expert Marnie Cohen to have a look at how both coaches are travelling, before making a call on who’s more likely to get the chop.

Listen to the debate:

Barring a modern miracle, neither the Crows nor Power will be playing September this season.

If the Bulldogs beat the Crows on Sunday, which they probably will, that’s curtains. Even if Adelaide win, they need to win by about five goals to overtake the Dogs on percentage, while Port would need a 40-ish point win over Fremantle to sneak in.
