It may have just been a one-wicket victory, but the circumstances surrounding England’s incredible third-Test victory at Headingley mean it could have enormous repercussions throughout the rest of the Ashes series.

A Ben Stokes-led run chase, which saw England complete their biggest successful second innings chase, stole the most unlikely of victories for England and now has the five-Test series levelled at 1-1.

Considering they were skittled for 67 in their first innings, anything short of a crushing loss or rain-affected draw seemed unfathomable.

The nature of that wins begs the question; are England now Ashes series favourites? Will the result have a huge psychological result on both teams?

We were joined on the Game of Codes podcast by Roar cricket expert David Schout to discuss the significance of the result at Headingley and what it means going forward.

Listen to the discussion:

That wasn’t all we touched on in our Ashes discussion, with the impact of a returning Steve Smith, potential changes for both sides ahead of the fourth Test at Old Trafford and, of course, our predictions for the rest of the series all getting a mention.
