The final chance for Australian code-hopper Valentine Holmes to push his case for inclusion in the New York Jets 53-man NFL roster has arrived, as they play their final pre-season game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday morning. This is The Roar’s guide to live streaming the match online in Australia.
The match is set to be played at the Met Life Stadium in New York, which is the home ground of the Jets on Friday, August 30, with kick-off set for 9am (AEST).
With the time difference, the game is actually being played on Thursday night back in the United States of America.
Holmes has had mixed performances across the first three pre-season games with the Jets, but his last performance saw the fomer NRL star who left the Cronulla Sharks at the end of the 2018 NRL season get just a handful of minutes of game time.
While it did give him his first chance as a punt and kick returner, the performance didn’t amount to any great heights and Holmes will now seemingly need something of a miracle to make the cut when the roster is announced following this clash with the Eagles.
The only legal way to live stream NFL matches not being shown on TV in Australia through the NFL Game Pass.
This will set you back $274 for an annual subscription and is the only way to ensure you’ll have access to this match.
The NFL Network, which is free to join, will have a replay of the match, but it will not be on demand unless you have paid for the Game Pass. Check the NFL’s official guide on their game pass website for the time of the replay.
That all being said, the best way to follow the match will be on The Roar, where we will run live scores, a blog and video highlights of all the action. We will also have the news up as soon as it breaks about the eventual fate of Holmes and his NFL dream.
While ESPN have the rights to the NFL, it’s impossible to show every match of the season or pre-season.
This match, unfortunately, didn’t make the cut, so unless you’re planning to chromecast the NFL game pass or have a smart TV, there will be no way to watch the match on the big screen in Australia.
