The 2019 AFL finals series finally gets underway tonight, with the West Coast Eagles tackling Essendon at Perth’s Optus Stadium.

The Thursday night final discussion is one for another day, but the disparity between the sides in this one appears to be by far the greatest of any finals match this weekend.

That said, the Eagles did finish the home-and-away season in pretty poor form and some people reckon they’re susceptible to an upset.

Are West Coast a sure thing to put Round 23’s horror loss to Hawthorn behind them and touch up the Bombers? Or can Essendon defy all expectations and cause a huge finals boilover?

We had Roar AFL expert Cam Rose on the Game of Codes podcast to preview the big first elimination final and make a call on who moves on.

We also brought up the future of embattled Essendon coach John Worsfold. Speculation has been rife about his future for much of the season and, although his side has qualified for finals, he could very well be out the door if they get obliterated.
