With the AFL finals kicking off tonight, we had the opportunity to bring injured skipper GWS co-captain Callan Ward on the Game of Codes podcast.

He may not be fit to play in the Giants’ elimination final against the Bulldogs tomorrow, but he was still able to hop on behind the mic and preview the match.

We discussed everything from where it wrong for the club in their 61-point loss the Doggies a few weeks ago, how they can turn it around, which players from the Bulldogs worry him the most, the mood around the club following Stephen Coniglio’s re-signing and, of course, an update on his rehab.

Listen to the discussion:

The Bulldogs are arguably the most organic rival the Giants have come across in their short history, with a history of spiteful trades and, of course, the 2016 preliminary final making clashes between the sides a spicy affair.

Ward was arguably the player who kickstarted that rivalry, leaving the Bulldogs to become Greater Western Sydney’s second-ever signing.

In 157 games for the club, he’s kicked 74 goals – including the side’s first-ever major.

Want to head to Giants Stadium this Saturday for this mouth-watering final? You can buy tickets here.
