The first spot in the AFL preliminary finals go on the line when the Geelong Cats and Collingwood Magpies clash in the first qualifying final on Friday evening. This is The Roar’s guide to live streaming the match online, or watching it on TV.

The match is set to be played at the home of Aussie Rules, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with the first bounce scheduled for 7:50pm (AEST) on Friday, September 6.

The Cats might have taken the minor premiership, but have been forced away from their home ground for this qualifying final, with the MCG holding about double the capacity of their usual ground in Geelong.

The winner of the match will receive a direct passage to the third week of the finals, where a spot in the grand final will be on the line, while the loser will get a second chance in a sudden death semi-final next week against the winner of the elimination final between the West Coast Eagles and Essendon Bombers.

How to watch the match on TV

As is the case with all of the games in the first week of the AFL finals, there will be two ways to watch this match on TV in Australia.

The first of those ways will be through Fox Footy, who will broadcast the match on Channel 504.

This is a Foxtel channel operated by Fox Sports, so to watch the coverage, you will need to have a valid Foxtel TV subscription, complete with the sports package.
