Australia will take on France in their final Round 2 game of the Basketball World Cup on Monday, September 9. The match is scheduled for 10pm (AEST).

This will be the Boomers’ last match before the quarterfinals and realistically, win or lose doesn’t matter too much here other than deciding against whom the Boomers will match up.

Both undefeated after four matches, there’s no chance of the Australians or the French being outdone by the other teams in their group.

However, there’s a significant incentive to win this one all the same – the loser will likely find themselves playing off against the USA in the quarterfinals.

The Americans only need a win over Brazil to guarantee top spot in group K. Even if they lose, top spot will probably remain theirs.

Who the winning side here is likely to play is an entirely different question. Brazil, the Czech Republic and Greece are all still firmly in the mix.

Brazil would have to be the least likely by virtue of playing the USA, so it likely comes down to who wins the remaining match between the Czechs and the Greeks.

The Czech Republic could lose and still finish in second so long as Brazil lose and their margin is not by more than seven points.
