Australia have done what they haven’t been able to do since 2001, retain the Ashes in a series on English soil.

Despite some nervy times on day five, the fourth Test was ultimately dominated by Australia as they took an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-Test series.

But, with plenty of issues still surrounding our form – especially with the bat – what’s the best way to approach the fifth and final Test? Is it time to make some changes and give some other players a go? Or do we give our struggling top order one more chance to get it right with nothing on the line?

We got Roar cricket expert Glenn Mitchell on the Game of Codes podcast to discuss the best approach for Australia at The Oval.

We also touched on some eyebrow-raising comments made by English captain Joe Root after the fourth Test, after he appeared to suggest Steve Smith was the only reason Australia won.

Were his comments on the money? Is he discounting the efforts of some of Australia’s other players? Is he glossing over some of the cracks with his own side?
