The AFL finals continue into the second week, with every single game now a straight knockout scenario. The first semi-final will be played between the Geelong Cats and West Coast Eagles on Friday, September 14 with the first bounce set for 7:50pm (AEST).

The match will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with Geelong controversially not allowed to use their own home ground due to size restrictions at the venue to the west of Melbourne.

While Geelong finished the regular season with the minor premiership, they feel last week on the MCG to the Collingwood Magpies and as a result don’t get the week off, having to play an extra elimination game.

The West Coast, on the other hand, have had an extra day’s rest after beating the Essendon Bombers at home in their elimination final on Thursday night.
