The match represents an opportunity for the Brisbane Lions to capitalise on what has been an extremely impressive season at both the national and NEAFL level.

Brisbane’s side is littered with AFL-listed players, including veterans Ryan Lester and Ryan Bastinac, and Rising Star winner Lewis Taylor.

There’s a few familiar names among the Southport Sharks, too – former Gold Coast players Seb Tabe, Andrew Boston and Matt Shaw, and former Collingwood rookie Michael Manteit.

Brisbane, if victorious, will notch their fourth NEAFL premiership. No other team in the league has won more than two. Southport have a chance to match that this week – if they win, it’ll be back-to-back titles for the Sharks.
