AFL and NRL finals mega-preview, plus Rugby World Cup predictions

18th September, 2019

This weekend will go down as one of the biggest periods in Australian sport, with AFL preliminary finals, NRL semi-finals and the start of the Rugby World Cup all getting underway at the same time.

As such, it’s one of the biggest episodes of The Roar’s Game of Codes podcast during our Focus on Finals.

We’re having a look at the AFL first, with Roar expert Marnie Cohen. Richmond start as hot favourites against Geeelong, but are the Cats any chance of causing the upset?

How much does Toby Greene’s availability impact Greater Western Sydney’s ability to upset Collingwood? Have other injuries doomed them regardless?

We look at NRL next with Roar rugby league expert Joe Frost. South Sydney versus Manly and Melbourne versus Parramatta seem like a straightforward pair of semi-finals – but there is any case for an upset?

Taking us home is the Rugby World Cup, as Roar rugby expert Brett McKay. What’s the pass mark for Australia this year? Who’ll win it, who’ll be player of the tournament and who is the most likely surprise quarter-finalist?

Catch the episode in the player above and head to our Game of Codes hub to listen to Thursday’s edition. Be sure to subscribe and review on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts or wherever else you’re listening.
