The second AFL preliminary final will be played on Saturday afternoon as the Collingwood Magpies fresh from a week off, do battle with the red-hot GWS Giants. The match is scheduled to get underway at 4:35pm (AEST).

Played as a twilight match to allow the Giants to travel back to Sydney on Saturday evening regardless of the result, the second spot in the grand final will be on the line at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday, September 21.

The match is likely to conclude shortly before 7:20pm (AEST), with halftime to at around 5:40pm (AEST).

The Giants made their way into this preliminary final by overcoming the Lions in Brisbane last week, following their win in the elimination Week 1 final over the Western Bulldogs. It means they have now won two knockout games in a row.

The Magpies, on the other hand, upset the Geelong Cats in the opening week of the finals to book direct passage out of their qualifying and have a week off in the meantime.
