Richmond defender Bachar Houli has been cleared to line up in next weekend’s AFL grand final with the Tiger found to have no case to answer over high contact on Geelong’s Gryan Miers.

In the third quarter of the Tigers’ preliminary final win over the Cats, Houli made high contact with the youngster, appearing to catch him in the throat.

Miers initially spent some time on the ground recovering but returned to his feet and played out the game.

But Match Review Officer Michael Christian found Houli’s contact was not enough to constitute a reportable offence.

“Houli is leading into space when Miers moves to lay a block. Houli seeks to evade Miers and in the process of fending off his opponent, Houli makes high contact,” the AFL said in statement on Saturday.

“It was the view of the MRO there was insufficient forceful high contact to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.”
