The Sydney Roosters will look to keep the dream of becoming the first NRL team in two decades to go back-to-back alive when they take on the Melbourne Storm in the second preliminary final.

The match, which will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, September 28, is scheduled to kick-off at 7:50pm (AEST).

The Storm were the team to beat right throughout the regular season, finishing as runaway minor premiers ahead of the second-placed Roosters by six points.

All seemed to be in readiness for a repeat of last year’s decider between these two sides, and while the Roosters held up their end of the bargain by beating the pants off the South Sydney Rabbitohs in their qualifying final, it wasn’t to be for the Storm who fell to the Canberra Raiders in a shock loss at home.

It meant the Storm were pushed to the other side of the draw, and while they smoked the Parramatta Eels last week, they now have to play the Roosters a week earlier than they would have wanted.
