For some fans, it’s the most exciting time of year. Tomorrow, this year’s player movement period officially gets underway with the start of AFL free agency.

With a couple of weeks of free agency and player trades set to take place very soon, the rumour mill goes into overdrive and, crucially, insinuations and whispers turn into actual trades and signings.

There’s no man on The Roar more qualified to talk trades than AFL expert and editor Josh Elliott, so we simply had to get him on the Game of Codes podcast to give this year’s player movement window the proper preview it deserves.

We spent the first segment spending some time analysing the biggest names currently on the market – including Tim Kelly, Joe Daniher and Tom Papley – and working out how, and if, the trades will end up happening.

Then, we have a look at some of the lesser lights wading through the trade waters and see if we can find some good value pickups who aren’t necessarily dominating the headlines.

Visit our Game of Codes hub to catch the full episode and be sure to subscribe and review on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts or wherever else you’re listening.
