There may have only been one trade completed so far at this year’s AFL trade period, but it’s arguably the biggest one. Tim Kelly finally got his Western Australia wish, departing Geelong for West Coast in a blockbuster deal to get this year’s trade wheel moving.

It was a complex three-way trade – involving Essendon for some unknown reason – that saw West Coast forfeit two first-round and second-round draft picks to get the star midfielder across the Nullabor.

Did the Eagles pay too much to land their man? Are they now the premiership favourites? How will Geelong fare in Kelly’s absence next season?

We got Roar AFL expert and editor Stirling Coates on the
Game of Codes podcast to analyse the Kelly trade and make a call on all the big questions surrounding it.
