This Saturday, all roads in Sydney head to Royal Randwick for the Moёt & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day.
With a nine-race card line-up on the day, racing will be at an all-time high. With the Caufield Guineas in Melbourne, it is sure to be a good day of racing in both Sydney and Melbourne.
The Champion Stakes will show off some of the best three-year-old horses in the country this Saturday.
Looking at this field, any runner can win it. But after analysing the runners, the horse I have chosen to win is Just Thinkin’, whose trainiers are Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, with jockey Tim Clark in the saddle. With Clark on board this gelding, it is hard to see him not being prepared for this race.
My second runner is the favourite Shadow Hero, trained by Mark Newnham. This gelding has shown impressive form, running first in his last race and winning by more than three lengths. This youngster will be hard to beat and will definitely be there in the finish.
My third pick is Castelvecchio, trained by Richard Litt and ridden by Brenton Avdulla. This colt has had a average start to his career but with his form a little out, I feel that the other runners can do better.
Finally, my fourth runner is Rhaegar, trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman and mounted by Jason Collett. This horse has had some good form going into this race. Even though it is a step up in a much stronger class, I feel this gelding is ready to improve for the big occasion at Royal Randwick.
