A new season of the Women’s Big Bash League has arrived, and for the first time ever, Australia’s women’s premier T20 competition will be played as a stand-alone venture. This is The Roar’s guide to live streaming each and every match of the tournament online, or watching them on TV.
Instead of being played alongside the men’s tournament as it has in the past, the fifth edition of the WBBL will be played on its own, with it to be finished before the men’s tournament starts.
The tournament will get underway on Friday, October 18 at 7:40pm (AEDT) with a Sydney derby as the Thunder take on the Sixers at North Sydney Oval.
Seven teams will be involved across an opening weekend that features seven matches in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, with the Perth Scorchers the final team to start their campaign on Wednesday, October 23.
Across the course of the season, which ends on Sunday, December 1, before semi-finals and the final are played on the following weekend, each team will play a total of 14 matches, taking on each other team twice, making for a season featuring a total of 56 matches, as well as the three knockouts.

The defending champions are the Brisbane Heat, who won a thrilling pair of matches in last year’s finals series to claim the crown, while Ellyse Perry’s Sydney Sixers are the most successful team across the four completed seasons, winning two titles.
Under the current TV deal with Cricket Australia, 23 games of the WBBL, including both semi-finals and the final, will be broadcast on TV through both the Seven Network and Fox Sports.
Fox Sports will broadcast games on Fox Cricket, which can be found on Channel 501 through Foxtel, while Seven will broadcast through either Channel 7 or 7Mate. We suggest you check your local guides in the lead-up to each televised match.
To watch the coverage on Fox Sports, you will need to ensure you have a valid Foxtel TV subscription, complete with the sports package of channels.
Here is a full list of matches which will be broadcast by both Fox Sports and Channel 7 throughout the season.
