A new NBA season is here, with plenty of different teams set to rise to the fore of the competition following numerous injuries and trades throughout what has been a busy off-season. This is The Roar’s guide to live streaming every match of the 2019-20 NBA season online in Australia.

The season will get underway on the home floor of the defending champions, the Toronto Raptors, as they host the New Orleans Pelicans at the Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday, October 23 at 11am (AEDT). That will be followed by the Los Angeles derby between the Clippers and Lakers at 1:30pm (AEDT).

Every team will then play their opening game of the season over the next two days, with 11 games set to be played on Thursday morning (AEDT).

All up, there will be 1230 regular season games across the six-month season, with each team playing a grand total of 82 games before playoffs and finals follow during the middle of 2020.

How to watch the NBA on TV in Australia

In Australia, it’s anticipated that almost 200 games will be shown across the season on ESPN, which can be found at either Channel 508, or 509 on Foxtel.

This being a Foxtel service, it does mean you will need to have a valid Foxtel TV subscription, complete with the sports package of channels.

Generally, ESPN will show two matches on Thursday and Friday, and either one or two on both Saturday or Sunday, with an increase in games shown after Christmas.

Under a new deal with the league, two games per week will also be shown on SBS, with the network to broadcast on Saturday and Sunday through SBS Viceland.

How to live stream the NBA online in Australia

The only way to live stream each and every match of the upcoming NBA season will be to use the NBA League Pass.

There are three options available when it comes to the official NBA offering. The cheapest of those is NBA TV, which costs $11.99 per month and will provide ten games per week.

The standard league pass sets you back $37.99 per month and will have every game of the season live, or on demand, however, won’t get you the extra content available on NBA TV.

If you want to combine both options above, it’ll cost you $44.99 per month.

If, however, you’re happy to just stick with the games being shown on either SBS or ESPN, then there are ways to live stream said games.

Kayo Sports is the best option to live stream ESPN games from $25 per month, however, you’ll also be able to use the Foxtel App, Foxtel Now and Fetch TV, as well as WatchESPN.

If you’d prefer to live stream SBS games, then you’ll be able to do so for free through SBS on Demand.
