Bravo Tango has won Race 2 at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day, taking home the Grinders Coffee Roasters trophy.

In a tight finish to the 1400m handicap race, Billy Egan managed to ride home the Mitchell Freedman-trained horse ahead of East Indiaman and William Thomas, who could only be separated by a photo finish for second and third.

Short-priced pre-race favourite Phiastos was stuck in traffic in the middle and unable to jump until too late. After being priced at $2.40 to win before the race, it missed out on a place entirely and ended up finishing in fourth.
