The 2019 Melbourne Cup has been run and won, with punters across the country eager to see how their trifecta and quinella bets went.

Unlike last year, weather didn’t impact the race too badly, with the track rated a Soft 5 before the jump.

UPDATE: A protest has been lodged by the stewards and has been upheld. Master of Reality, who originally finished second, has been relegated to fourth for interfering with Il Paradiso. Prince of Arran moves up to second, while Il Paradiso has been bumped up to third.

In the end, it was one of just two Australian horses to take it out with Vow and Declare winning one of the most thrilling Melbourne Cup finishes in recent memory. Prince of Arran and Master of Reality initially rounded out the trifecta, with Il Paradiso placing fourth. However, a protest changed the result.

The trifecta and quinella best are notoriously hard to get right. The quinella requires punters to name the top two horses correctly – in any order – while a successful trifecta requires all three finishers being picked in the correct order.

First: Vow and Declare
Second: Prince of Arran
Third: Il Paradiso

Here are the winning quinella and winning trifecta bets.
