The 2019 Rugby World Cup came to a fittingly stunning conclusion on Saturday night, with South Africa knocking off England 32-12 to claim their third Webb Ellis cup.
Coming into the final as outsiders – especially after England clinically dismantled the All Blacks a week prior – the Springboks became the first team in World Cup history to win the final despite losing a group stage match.
With plenty of upsets and plenty of touching stories off the field – like Canada’s team assisting in cleanup efforts after Typhoon Hagibis cancelled their match – can you make the case for this World Cup being the best ever?
We were joined by Roar rugby expert Brett McKay on the Game of Codes podcast to dissect the final, before asking whether Japan 2019 was the best World Cup we’ve ever seen.

One side who made a huge splash was, of course, Japan. The tournament hosts knocked off two Six Nations sides, before holding their own in their quarter-final against South Africa.
